Di Matteo: We aren’t title contenders yet, despite Spurs win

Chelsea manager Roberto Di Matteo still insist his team can not be declared title contenders at the moment despite winning Tottenham 4-2 at White Hart Lane. During the important London derby, the Blues came from 2-1 behind to win the derby and claim their seventh Barclays Premier League win of the season.

Thanks to Juan Mata's two goals and both from Cahill and Sturridge to make it four as Di Matteo's attacking midfielders continue to impress the club. Chelsea took the lead from Gary Cahill's powerful shot outside the box in the first-half but in the early minutes of the second-half, goals from Gallas and Defoe put the home side ahead.

Meanwhile, Mata's two quick-fire strikes turn the game around to secured the victory for Chelsea just as Spurs was pressing so hard to take at least a draw, a late tap-in from Daniel Sturridge setup by Mata eventually weaken the home side to succumb to victory.

Despite all these impressive display from the boys, Di Matteo still believes it is premature to start talking about whether Chelsea are the favorites for the Premier League title now.

"I think I would say it is too early to say that," he said. "There are 30 games still to play. It makes us a team that is strong and makes our start even better, but with 30 more games I still think that you have to wait until the Christmas period."
