Referee Mike Jones handed Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas his marching orders by sending him out of their game against West Bromwich last week for violent misconduct.
The Spain international saw red at Hawthorns after kicking the ball
at Chris Brunt face when he was down in their 3-0 loss to the Baggies but the FA decides to
accept Chelsea's appeal and reduce the ban.
During West Brom vs Chelsea post match interviews, Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho spoke critically of the referee decision and insist that the red card was "bizarre" and shouldn't attract the three-match ban it supposed.
However, Chelsea subsequent appeal for the ban was successful and Fabregas is set to miss only one match instead of three. He will miss Chelsea's final home game of the season against Sunderland on Sunday.
A statement on the FA's website affirm the decision thus;
"A claim by Chelsea that the three-match suspension for Cesc Fabregas is excessive has been upheld by an Independent Regulatory Commission hearing,"
"Fabregas was dismissed for violent conduct during the West Bromwich Albion FC v Chelsea FC fixture on 18 May.
"The Regulatory Commission has reduced the Chelsea midfielder’s suspension to one match, to be served with immediate effect."
