The West London club Chelsea are reported to be keen on signing Polish international Robert Lewandowski as Didier Drogba's replacement. The Ivory Coast veteran left the club on a free transfer to join Chinese outfit Shanghai Shenhua at the end of his contract. Despite Fernando Torres promising to fill Drogba's place at Stamford Bridge to make sure he wasn't missed, the Blues still want Lewandowski.
The 23-year-old Borussia Dortmund striker who netted 30 goals last term and who is physically robust in the attacking line, would obviously do well in England. Chelsea are not only the suitors trying to woo the Dortmund star as there are possibly other teams as well seeking to purchase the young forward player like Manchester United.
Roberto Di Matteo needs to beef up his attacking option by including a talented sharp striker and not only relying on Fernando Torres who has failed to justify his £50 million price tag since he was purchase from Liverpool 18 months ago. Daniel Sturridge had played only a few games under manager Di Matteo unlike former Chelsea boss and predecessor Andre Villas-Baos where he fully had faith in the English striker and gave him good chances to prove his worth. Belgian teenager Romelu Lukaku also failed to net in 12 appearances for Chelsea. Roberto Lewandowski will be the right player to be the next Drogba.
