Chelsea right-back Cesar Azpilicueta assign squad number

Chelsea new right-back Cesar Azpilicueta has been assigned squad number today since signing for Chelsea on Friday. The £7million signer from Marseille joins Chelsea some few days ago, and we've all been eagerly waiting to know what number he will wear for Chelsea this season. Fellow signer Victor Moses from Wigan Athletic is still yet to be given his shirt number but according to wikipedia, Victor Moses' number is 33 but it has not been officially announced by the club.

Chelsea Megastore USA website has confirmed Azpilicueta will be wearing the number 28 shirt for Chelsea. Accidentally, his squad number coincides with his date of birth. 28 August, 1989. There are also reports that the jerseys are already on sale offline and online. Although the club is yet to officially confirm this assignment.

Surprisingly, every number below 27 is already taken by other players. Some numbers might be absent on the Club's website but they are taken by loaned players. For example Thibaut Courtois with 13, Kevin De Bruyne with 14, Romelu Lukaku with 18, and Josh McEachran with 20.
