The UEFA Champions league draws was held today in Europe and Chelsea the defending Champions are in for the showdown again this time. Finishing 6th on the league table with the Champions league trophy, gave Chelsea an automatic slot to move straight to the Group stages and participate in the Champions league.
Chelsea are the leaders of Group E and here we meet the rest of the teams drawn in the same group with the defending champions. There is no team for Chelsea to fear in the Champions league having beating Barcelona (the best team in the world) and Bayern Munich to lift the UEFA Champions League trophy in Germany. But i think it is safer having avoid upcoming strong teams like Paris St Germain and Borussia Dortmund in Group E. So what do you think about the draws?
Group E: Chelsea , Shakhtar Donetsk, Juventus, FC Nordsjaelland. This is a medium difficult group for the blues with Juventus and Shakhtar Donestsk being the only tough side to challenge. Especially with Juventus having a ferocious team of supporters on their home ground, when Chelsea go to Italy. It will also be a Tromsosesque experience to engage Shakhtar in Ukraine if the away leg is scheduled deep in the winter. The most famous team in Group E is Juventus. They are back into the Champions league once again after a long absence, having won the Serie A last year.
Shakhtar Donestk on the other hand, who are 2009 UEFA cup winners, have won the Ukrainian league for the last three years in a row. They have talented players such as Brazilian Adriano and William whom will definitely cause trouble for their opponents.
FC Nordsjaelland are the least in Group E. They are a bit of an unknown quantity team with no Champions league experience. But in football, no team should be taken for granted otherwise you receive a shocking defeat of your life. Chelsea should approach all teams with confidence and caution irrespective of whether they have a Champions league experience or not. Goodluck my blues
