Yaya Toure is the only African player that makes Forbes list of richest paid players in the world. The Cote d’Ivoire international and currently African footballer of the year makes Forbes Magazine’s 100 best paid sportspeople of the season earning about €15.1 million and endorsement over the past 12 months to make the Forbes rich list of 100 highest paid athletes.
Among the list of richest sport people in the world is American boxer Floyd May-weather who top the list with €67.35 million, followed by Filipino professional boxer and politician Manny Pacquiao, who earned €49.12 million. Former world’s richest sportsman golfer Tiger Woods comes third with earnings worth €47.07 million. Yaya Toure comes 73rd in the list while former England captain David Beckham, who now plays for Los Angeles Galaxy is the first footballer to come top on the list. He made €36.45 million during the last 12 months to sit at 8th position ahead of Real Madrid’s Christiano Ronaldo on 9th position with €33.6 million.
Lionel Messi of Barcelona and three-time Fifa Ballon d’Or winner comes 11th with €30.9 million earned.
