Chelsea trio Demba Ba, David Luiz and Petr Cech are all confirmed to be injured and they might not be featured against Wigan Athletic for the weekend's Premier League game. Ba suffered a broken nose when
playing against Newcastle United last week and has been withdrawn for the international duties against Guinea the Senegalese Football Federation said.
Cech on the other hand had suffered a broken finger and has also been withdrawn from international commitments for Czech Republic this week.
Meanwhile, Luiz who is struggling with a calf injury has been under examination for the international duties and Brazil boss Luis Felipe Scolari is cautious over his fitness.
"Regarding David Luiz he will [have to] pass another exam with our physios, then we will decide whether he will play or not," Scolari said. "We will not take any risks with him."
However, the greatest injury fears is that of Petr Cech, who having already missed part of the season with groin and calf injuries might be out again for a while. During his absence, the squad always struggle to avoid conceding goals. It is unfortunate that he is set for another spell on the sidelines.
"Petr Cech will not play [on Wednesday] because he has a swollen or maybe even broken upper part of his pinkie finger," Czech FA spokesman Jaroslav Kolar said.
"It is still too early to say how long he will be unable to play. He just went for an examination, so we will give more details likely tomorrow when we have the doctor's findings."
