It's that time of year as transfer rumors about with nearly every club in the Premier League, including Chelsea. While it may be too early to know which players the club is really interested in signing, it doesn't hurt to take a look at players currently being tossed around as potential transfers.
Neymar may be among the most interesting names being floated around in the transfer rumors. The Brazil star has actually mentioned the club by name and even has a tie to the club as Chelsea recently signed Oscar to a £25m deal over the summer.
He said in regards to the transfer rumors that, "It is very simple: if Barcelona are interested you listen, if Real Madrid are interested you listen, if Chelsea are interested you listen."
Neymar also said that Oscar has been selling Chelsea hard to him. "Oscar messages me to tell me what a great club Chelsea is and what a great city London is," according to Neymar.
A team that is noticeably absent in transfer rumors for Neymar is Manchester United. The club is reportedly interested in signing the star and if reports are accurate already made a £38m bid for him during the summer.
ManU recently signed a new sponsor in bwin, so maybe they can afford to bump up their bid a bit. Investing their money in players like Neymar would be a better use than one of bwin's prior business deals where they almost entered into a merger with a company now under investigation by US government officials for fraud.
Honestly, who can blame Neymar for considering Chelsea. The club is currently playing great and is atop the Premier League. ManU is struggling to keep the ball out of net and will likely loose a lot of value when Sir Alex Ferguson leaves the club soon.
Neymar knows a potential win-win situation when he sees one and transfer to Chelsea could be a win-win for both sides. Only time will tell whether the club will sign the Brazilian star but Chelsea may want to act quickly before United or another club decides to outspend them to win the transfer rights.
