One woeful display from the £50m flop that got everybody's stamping his foot was the 2-1 defeat at Shakhtar Donetsk on Tuesday, after playing so poorly like one who has lost his mental ability on the pitch, he was finally hauled off by Di Matteo in the 70th minute to bring in Daniel Sturridge who is currently the only back-up striker for Torres.
With Manchester United visiting Stamford Bridge tomorrow for a showdown, Di Matteo insists he is prepared to leave Torres on the bench, like he did for spells last season.
Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich has always wanted his record signing to play every game but when Di Matteo was asked if he would axe the 28-year-old player for tomorrows game, He said: "I've shown in the past, in terms of rotation of the team, that I have done that with everybody."
When pressed to say if Torres would start tomorrow against Manchester United, the manager added: "I don't know yet."
