Chelsea are title contenders after passing 'first big test' against Arsenal Torres insists. The Blues defeated Gunners 1-2 in a well played encounter at Emirate stadium. The 28-year-old Spanish international set the Blues ahead in 20 minutes before Gervinho equalizer in 42 minutes. Juan Mata's free-kick in the second half of the game gave us the lead and the Blues fought hard to win and maintain their place at the top of the Premier League table once again.
Chelsea will host Norwich City in their next Premier League game but before then, the boys needs to prepare for Tuesday Champions League tie with Nordsjælland way to Denmark. "We knew we needed to improve the result we had last season against the top teams," Torres told Sky Sports. "That was one of the main targets we had this season winning these types of games to go for the top four and to fight for the title.
"Today was the first big test in a very difficult stadium like the Emirates against Arsenal, a great team. And the result is really good for us." Torres was also delighted to have scored alongside his international team-mate Mata. "It was important to open the scoring away as it gives you more time to settle in the game so very happy for Mata's goal," he added.
Torres went on to claim that Chelsea can further improve this season as they look to adapt a new style of play following the arrival of Oscar, Hazard and Moses in the summer. "The kind of players I have in the middle behind me are giving me a lot of support. I have to improve trying to create more chances for the team,"
he continued. "I haven't had many shots on goal this season but even like this I'm scoring goals. "I think that the team still has to improve, not just me, everyone but we are showing as a team with this different style of football we're playing this season we're at the top so it's a good style, good players and we can dream of a very good season
