The goal drought for Obi Mikel still continues at Chelsea after five and a half years without a goal for the club. The Nigerian midfielder who last scored for Chelsea back in early 2007 had explain why he wouldn't score for the club and didn't know when this will happen.
Obi Mikel speaking with friends via twitter says it does bother him lightly when people criticize his lack of goals.
'It does a bit, I'm not always in a position to score, so i don't score, that's the truth. I've always had to sit back and keep the shape.' he said.
'When i go forward nobody will cover for me so the midfield is open. I hope people see this because i don't know when that goal is going to come! I think i would have to change my position slightly to score goals'.
A lot of people has compared Mikel's holding role to Alexandre Song when he was still playing for Arsenal. Song scores for Arsenal most at times but why can't Mikel score for Chelsea? Both teams play a different pattern of football, the gunners plays collectively exchanging positions and covering each players lapses, so Song would have the chance to step out of his role in to the opponents box and strike. But at Chelsea! no way. if Mikel attempts, John Terry yells 'where the hell did you think you are going to?' :) Or what do you think?
