Ashley Cole ready to quit Chelsea if offered only one year contract extension

Ashley Cole is ready to quit Chelsea and move to another club if they can only offer him a year contract extension. The England left-back is in the final year of his contract with just few months remaining with the Blues which will expire at the end of the season but the London club insist on offering him just one year take it or leave it deal. And the 31-year-old former Arsenal defender is not impress with the deal.

According to the Sun, an apparent insider told them that Roman Abramovich has a contract rule. That the club is only prepared to offer players from 30 years and above one year deals and not even the worlds best left-back is going to get special treatment.

Cole is willing to see out his career at Stamford Bridge but he would not agree to just one year deal. Roman will have to breach his own rule and get Ashley Cole to stay for there are no possible replacement for Cole right now in the squad if he leaves. Everyone knows he's the best left-back in the world. He trains hard, looks after himself and can play at this level for more years to come. 

There is just no club in the world that wouldn't want Cole. Real Madrid, PSG and Zenit St. Petersburg have all been linked with a move for Cole in recent months. However if Cole doesn't pen a new deal in the coming months, then he will be free to talk with other clubs in January over a possible free transfer move next summer.
