Barcelona's Javier Mascherano attacked Jose Mourinho's claims on Tuesday that Cristiano Ronaldo deserves the 2012 ballon d'or award as his goals plays a vital role in the clubs title success. The defensive midfielder rubbishes Jose's claims that Lionel Messi record breaking 50 goal haul this season counts for nothing because the Blaugrana did not win the La Liga title saying that, the Madrid's boss words are without value.
However, Mascherano believes that Messi has done enough and must be considered a shoo-in for his fourth successive ballon d'or with his 72 goals in all competition. He said '' i don't value Mourinho's words, he told reporters at the press conference on Wednesday. '' i have nothing to say. '' last year the 40 goals scored by Ronaldo were worth something according to Mourinho and this year the 50 scored by Messi are worthless? ''people can say what they like for me it has merit, because we have won three titles, which is a lot ''Leo deserves to win the ballon d'or because he has achieved a tally not seen since the 1930s. ''we are talking about a guy who has broken a record 70 or 80 years old. What better reward can he have than the ballon d'or?''
