It has been concluded that Chelsea second goal keeper Petr Cech will be leaving for Emirate this summer transfer window, which means Chelsea will have to bring in a backup goalkeeper for Thibaut Courtois.
Chelsea are currently weighing the possibility of signing Stoke City goalkeeper as a backup for Courtois as it now looks certain that Petr Cech will be moving to the Emirate Stadium.
The Blues are holding talks to sign Asmir Begovic from Stoke city as a replacement for Cech who told the club that he wants to sign for Arsenal this summer transfer window.
As it is now, all attempts to persuade Petr Cech to stay at Stamford Bridge prove abortive as the Czech Republic international insist that he want first team assurance which Chelsea can’t promise. So Chelsea Manager Jose Mourinho wants to make sure he secures an experience goalkeeper that will compete with Thibaut Courtois before Cech will be permitted to leave.
Asmir Begovic is said to have a year left in his contract with Stoke City and has rejected an offer for a new deal from the club. So will he be coming to Chelsea? Every player wants a regular playing time and I think Begovic is no exception except if Chelsea persuade the 27 year-old to give up regular Premier League starts and work as a backup keeper for Courtois with a lucrative salary package and a reasonable number of appearances like Cech got last season, then he might consider.
See 2014 – 2015 statistics for Stoke City Goalie Asmir Begovic.
Petr Cech made 16 appearances for Chelsea last season but the 33-year-old shot stopper wants to leave as he wants a number one spot elsewhere. Manchester united and PSG are both interested in the Chelsea keeper who still has one year left in his contract.
But Cech reveals that he will not be leaving London because his family is already rooted in the city with his two children settled in school in the capital. So Arsenal will be the right place for him to consider.
Mourinho is reluctant in letting Petr Cech go especially to a rival team like Arsenal but insist that he will not stand in the way of any of his players, saying after all the owner of Chelsea Roman Abramovich have the final say.
