Chelsea Transfer News: Mark Schwarzer Joins Leicester City, Hear what Mourinho Said

Chelsea third choice goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer has reportedly join Leicester City on a permanent deal. The 42-year-old goal stopper who joined Chelsea on a free transfer from Fulham in 2013 has find it very difficult to make first team appearances due to the competition at goal post from both Petr Cech and Thibaut Courtois.

The Australian international was Chelsea’s second choice goalkeeper prior to Courtois return from a loan spell in Athletico Madrid. Now that the Belgium international has return permanently to his parent club Chelsea, Schwarzer has find it very difficult to make appearances for the blues.

We heard report reaching us that Chelsea had decided to allow him join the Foxes in the January transfer window.

“we have lost a big man, we’ve lost Schwarzer. We miss him and we wish him all the best” Mourinho said, as reported by Talksport

“He is a fantastic goalkeeper for us but this season the situation has changed. He has become the third [choice goalkeeper] which is a very difficult situation for a goalkeeper of his dimension” “We will miss a fantastic guy and we wish him all the best at Leicester”

the Portuguese tactician concluded.

The Blues will now call the services of former England Under-19 goalkeeper Jamal Blackman from his loan spell at Middlesbrough.

“I want to publicly thank Mark Schwarzer because he’s leaving us and he was a fantastic guy for us.” Mourinho told the club’s official website. “as a goalkeeper, when we needed him, he was there for us, and as a person and a professional he was an amazing guy in our group. On behalf of myself, my staff and my players I want to say we are going to miss the big guy and we wish him all the best in his new life at Leicester.”

“We’ll bring Jamal back from Middlesbrough. He was on loan there but wasn’t playing so for them it’s not a problem. For us, he’s a young, English goalkeeper. He can work with Courtois and Cech so for him it’s a good experience”
