Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder Willian has reiterates his desire to play for the Champions of Europe after a great encounter which they fought gallantly but lose. The Brazilian international scored two goals in their 3-2 defeat to Chelsea last Wednesday during their Champions League group E match at Stamford Bridge stadium in London.
The Shakhtar Donetsk superstar who was on the club's list of players to buy when Andre Villas-Boas was still the boss at the club said, he is still interested in leaving his current club to play for the Blues. Willian said: "Chelsea and Spurs have made offers for me in the past. "Who knows what will happen in the future. Maybe they will come back. "At the moment all I am thinking about is Shakhtar and helping them to qualify for the next round of the Champions League.
"But I have always thought that one day I want to play for a big club in England, Spain or Italy, so it's very important for me to play so well against such an important team as Chelsea."
Well it is not a surprise that Willian would prefer a move to Chelsea especially after speaking with his Brazilian team mate Oscar who has spoken so well of the club, comparing it's attacking brand of football to that of the Selecao. Willian is currently enjoying every minutes of his game in Ukraine but the Brazilian star has felt that his mission with the club has come to an end. The 24-year-old Brazilian play maker is one of the hottest properties in football and has been linked with moves to both Chelsea and Tottenham in recent months.
"I would like to move from Shakhtar, my work here is complete," he said after Shakhtar defeated Chelsea last month. He was holding a Chelsea shirt as he said it. The Ukrainian club twice turned down bids from the Blues for Willian Borges da Silva much to the player's disappointment. "Regardless of the price, it is clear that the desire is great to play at a club like Chelsea, the champions of the Champions League," he told Globo Esporte. "I'm really upset with the board for not letting me leave. It would be good for me and also for the club."
Shakhtar chief executive Sergei Palkin revealed in January that the side then coached by Andre Villas-Boas had seen a £16.5m offer refused. Willian has won four league titles, three domestic cups and a Uefa Cup since his arrival as a hugely promising Brazil youth international but wants to realize his dream of playing for Brazil in the 2014 World Cup. "My dream is to play with the Selecao at the World Cup in Brazil and I will have more chances to realize the dream if I play for a big team," he said. He added: "I would like to play in a big team in a big tournament, like the Premier League or Serie A," the player said. "I like Chelsea, Milan and Inter," said Willian revealing his preference.
However, his Shahktar team mate Eduardo favors him moving to England. Eduardo, who spent three years with Arsenal, believes Spurs are not good enough for Willian. "There are three clubs who are big enough and good enough for Willian - Arsenal, Man United and Chelsea," he said. "I have recommended these clubs no others. He needs to play at one of the best teams.
"Willian is a complete player now. He is ready to play for a big club and become a really big player. "He should play at a top, top club because he is a class player. He can play in England, for sure. "We always talk and watch Premier League games together. "He asks me about England and the English game and I tell him little things."
If Willian need a different challenge elsewhere then Chelsea is the right club for him. Will Di Matteo consider his signature in January? Let's just see how it goes.
