Anelka slam Chelsea over stiff Contract Policy on Players

Nicolas Anelka has taken a swipe at Chelsea’s contract policy by saying that, once a player reach 30 years at the club, they are no longer important. The former Chelsea striker has express his bitterness over the clubs treatment of players over 30 years who has contributed greatly to the clubs achievements.

The club is currently in negotiation with its two key players Ashley Cole and Frank Lampard, who are both
affected by the clubs contract age policy. And it appears that the club is unwilling to offer a long term deal to them due to their age.

Meanwhile, the Shanghai Shenhua striker can’t believe his old club will only offer 12-months deals to John Terry, Ashley Cole and Frank Lampard. He is quoted by Sport360 as saying: “when you reach 30 at Chelsea, you feel like you are too old. Its sad. Its like; “We don’t need you, get lost.”

This was what happened to Didier Drogba, who was seeking a two-year contract last season after his contract was nearing expiration but Chelsea offered him only 12 month deal. So he decided to join Anelka in China. Ashley Cole is currently tempted by Paris Saint Germain in France while Los Angeles Galaxy in the US had shown interest to sign Frank Lampard. If they failed to reach an agreement with Chelsea, both players will be open for negotiations with other clubs in January.
