Chelsea star David Luiz has signed a new five-year deal to extend his stay at Stamford Bridge till 2017. The 25-years old Brazilian defender who signed for the club from Benfica in 2011 has played significant roles in the Blues' recent success and this deal has been in the making for weeks until final conclusion.

Luiz played significantly in the Champions League finals in place of John Terry who was suspended for the match, appearing in full 120 minutes and converting his penalty shootout attempts as the Blues won it 4-3.
On 22rd September, 2012 he put pen to paper to extend his stay at Stamford Bridge and he is happy doing it. The Brazilian said:
"I am delighted to sign a new contract with Chelsea. "It is a great club and I look forward do winning more trophies here. "I want to play for. Long time at the top level - which is what playing for Chelsea means. "I love everything about he club. And especially the fans who have given me great support."
