Chelsea defender and team GB Olympian Ryan Bertrand has just return to train with his club in Cobham yesterday. The TB left-back is joined by fellow team mates Juan Mata, Oriol Romeu and Daniel Sturridge whom were also on International duties for their countries at the London Olympics leaving only Oscar yet to return.
Bertrand was with Chelsea in the pre-season tour in USA briefly before reporting for the Olympic duty and he is now keen to get going after describing the Olympics experience as one of the most memorable summers of his life.
'its been a very good summer, playing in the Olympics was an amazing experience and now I'm looking forward to the season, which starts very soon,' said the Chelsea left-back.
'it was fantastic to learn from players who have had such good careers like Ryan Giggs and Graig Bellamy, it really was a massive learning experience and the opportunity to experience another International setup after England Under 21s. 'Being at a home Olympics does give you that added incentive and to have much support from all the fans around the country was fantastic.'
'I had my holidays after the season where it was good to get back to Chelsea,' He further expresses his happiness to be back to the team once again.
'It's nice to be back, and training was good. you can see the boys have been working hard on the tour, so things are looking bright for the beginning of the season. I manage to play all games for Team Britain so that was good fitness-wise and I'm good to go'.
Ryan Bertrand will be a vital player for Chelsea this season. He will be a perfect backup for Ashley Cole in the defence line. He was featured in the Chelsea European Champions League victory against Bayern Munich and he played well. He is quickly adapting with his fellow team mates and sooner he will break in to the first team to take Barton from Cole.
