West Bromwich Albiom manager Steve Clark had said he has
every reason to believe that Chelsea loan
striker Romelu Lukaku’s wasted his first season after joining Chelsea last year. The Belgian star joined Chelsea in August but
manage to make only eight appearances in the season for the club. The 19 year-old
striker join the baggies at the beginning of this season and recorded a goal (coming
from bench) on his debut for West Brom as they defeated Liverpool
3-0.
Clark who also joined West Brom this summer as he succeeded New England manager Roy Hodgson, Lauded a lot of praise on the young striker saying he got enough potentials to tap. The former assistant at Chelsea believes Lukaku’s talent was a waste at Chelsea but he would give the Belgian star the opportunity to improve his career with West Brom.
“He moved for big money and there was a lot of expectation
on him. It didn’t quite work out for him at Chelsea
last season foe whatever reason,” Clark told
the Express & Star. “one of the things he said was that, he felt it was
like a season wasted and he didn’t learn and didn’t get enough work in
training..” Hopefully here we can help to push him again. He is obviously a
talented player. We can help him to learn and as he’s learning, he will be
helping us as well. “I know there was a number of clubs after him. I wasn’t surprised
he chose to come here. I knew we could offer him something maybe other clubs
couldn’t”
Lukuka will be Chelsea
future star only if he is given time to play regular games. I wonder why he was
left in the squad, playing few games when he should have been given out on loan last
season. Chelsea
is obviously not in a position to start experimenting on young stars because
there is no better youth development scheme, no training facilities to breed up young
players as compared to other big clubs. They only buy ready made players. Take a look at Kakuta, he is so
gifted and talented but failed to shine at Stamford Bridge.
The club has a very poor management system and this should be improved.
