Frank Lampard gives Mikel a tap on the back

Frank Lampard praises fellow team mate Mikel Obi. We may have a different opinion as to whether Obi Mikel worth the praise showered upon him by Chelsea vice Captain Lampard. But the truth is that the Chelsea midfielder has received a lot of praises from his fellow team mates. Obi is underrated by outsiders including some Chelsea fan due to his style of football. He lacks creativity, initiatives, flexibility, goal scoring ability and too timid in terms of skills so they said. But the question now is, is it really true that Mikel is such a poor player? Or is it just that we don't just value our own player Mikel?

No matter what we say about the Nigerian midfielder, Frank Lampard has a positive view of his team mate. And this is what Lampard said: "He's a brillian player. I think he's improved a lot over the last few years. He's at a level now where he's playing some great football," Lampard told KickOffNigeria.com exclusively. "Maybe the reason people say that is because he's playing a position that is really underrated. He's not a player that's going to score you goals in a season but his value to the team is measured by how his team mates talk about him and we all have nothing but high praise for him" Lampard continues to explain why Mikel will always be an asset for Chelsea. "He does a lot of work for us in the holding role, keeps the ball moving for us. He's great at tackling, intercepting balls, winning balls and has great feet."

Mikel Obi who arrived Chelsea in 2005 under coach Mourinho for £16 million when he was only 18 years. He is yet to score up to 5 goals. Lampard suggest that, He had a lot of pressure on him as a young player. He came with a big responsibility because of the way we brought him into the club, but i think in the last two or three years he has improved greatly. He is a top top player now. Lampard says.
