Chelsea improved their chances of progressing into the next stage of the competition by winning their away game against Nordsjaelland in Copenhagen yesterday. The European Champions thrash the Danish team 4-0 to answered Roberto Di Matteo's call to improve their away record in the Champions League in impressive style.
Big thanks to a brace from Mata, with both Luiz and Ramirez putting the ball in the back of the net in the second half of the game. Mata again was our shining light as he slips Chelsea's first goal past goalkeeper Jesper Hansen from Lampards pass. But before then, the Blues were nearly ahead inside three minutes, Jores Okore heading against his own post as he went full stretch to prevent Mata's teasing cross from reaching Victor Moses. The two players collide and Okore was taken out of the pitch for treatment which he latter return with a head bandage.
The Blues then showed patience as the Danish champions, who had moved their home debut in the competition to Copenhagen, produced some pretty passing football, nearly equalizing 15 minutes from time when Blues keeper Petr Cech clawed Joshua John's shot onto the post. But Chelsea responded to that scare in fine style with three goals in the last ten minutes.
David Luiz fired home from a dipping 25-yard free- kick to make it two, a series of passes from the opponents box made Mata to slam in a third and Ramires touched home Oscar's superb low cross for the visitors' fourth. Chelsea won easily in this away match in the group stages, something they didn't manage to win in last season's competition. It looks like the boys will do something great this time again.
