Both Frank Lampard and Ashley Cole will be on their way out of Stamford Bridge by next season if they failed to secure a contract extension with Chelsea. The duo's contract with Chelsea will expire at the end of the season and Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich has an age policy regarding issuing contracts to players above 30 years.
The billionaire is ready to offer only one year contract deals which both refuses and insist that it should be more. The club feels Ashley Cole and Frank Lampard are old and already got replacement respectively. Bertrand will replace Cole if he decide to leave while Marko Marin and Piazon are there waiting to break in to the first team to play the Lampard's role alongside Hazard, Mata and Oscar.
Ashley Cole is 31 while Lampard is 34 but if you ask my opinion i will say they are both playing the best football of their life at this age. But if the owner has a policy of going with only young players, then i think that is a nice one. Frank Lampard was linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge to LA Galaxy while Ashley Cole has been tempted by former blues boss at Paris Saint Germain. Despite being considered as one of the best left backs in the world, Cole is also still under pressure from youngster Ryan Bertrand, who recently signed a new five year deal at Chelsea.
Captain John Terry who is 31, could also be affected, although his current deal does not expire until 2014 so he is free to stay.
