John Mikel Obi has now quite Twitter as a result of series of racial abuse directed towards him. I thought Twitter was a wonderful place for celebrities to hook up with their fans in a social manner, but alas, it is now used as a medium to send out insults and threats to people.
It has happened to Darron Gibson of Manchester United and he quickly close his twitter account within minutes of opening it. This time the Nigerian international Obi Mikel is also a victim. Chelsea have earlier today confirmed the news that John Obi Mikel has closed his account on Social networking site Twitter after receiving several racial tweets due to his error that allowed Juventus deny the Blues all three points in their Champions League opening Group E match.
Chelsea were winning 2-1 and it look like a sure victory for the West London side before Mikel's misplaced pass directed to Hazard allowed Fabio Quagliarella sneaks in to restore parity. This error led to several racist tweets directed at Mikel despite his apologies and accepting full responsibility for his mistakes. Chelsea immediately took to twitter to condemned the act against the 25 year old Nigerian. Chelsea wrote on Twitter thus:
"Abuse on social networks is abhorrent. Racist tweets towards Mikel are totally unacceptable. Police informed. #CFC supports strongest action."
