Malouda and Ferreira were furious when ordered to play for Chelsea reserve team friendly. Florent Malouda and Paulo Ferreira's relationship with Chelsea is now falling apart after the pair expresses disappointment when ordered to play for the reserves in a behind-closed-doors friendly against Charlton on Friday yesterday. New signing Cesear Azpilicueta made his first appearance for the blues in the friendly as Chelsea loss to Charton Athletic.
Malouda, who has been told that he will train with the Under 21 development squad henceforth for the remaining year of his contract, has been warned he could lose his squad number this week. Chelsea chief Roberto Di Matteo will make a final decision over the issue this week, though the French man first team career at the club appears to be over. Malouda who retained his shirt number 15 at the start of the season, will now expects it to be taken off him after his dramatic fall in form.
Paulo Ferreira also is now hardly seen in a Chelsea shirt. Ferreira has always been loyal to Chelsea and has been a vital member of the first team since signing from Porto. Although he is no longer a regular in the starting line-up, even though listed among the Champions league squad. It is understood that, Ferreira was also furious that he was forced to play against Charlton. The Chelsea outcasts reported to the club's training ground for the match against the Addicks' second string at Cobham. Both players relationship with Chelsea is at breaking point.
Di Matteo's axing of the pair is just like what Andre Villas-Boas' did to Nicolas Anelka and defender Alex last season. The pair were ordered to train and park on the academy site and were even told they could not attend the traditional silver service Christmas lunch at the training ground. Most of Chelsea's players were on international duty this week, but reserve team coach Dermot Drummy was ordered to play Malouda and Ferreira. Malouda is no longer in the France set up and Ferreira cannot win his place back in defence for Portugal.
It is very obvious now that Malouda and Ferreira's services are no longer needed and will have to leave the club for their playing career elsewhere. Both of them have contributed in the previous season, but now they need to understand that their chances are limited in the first team. Malouda was told he will not feature in the first team and Ferriera did not even play a handful of games last season. So if they love football they can really understand that they will have to move to another club and play regularly. Take a look at Berbatov, he knew his chances were limited at Manchester United, So he left the club to play regular football. Malouda and Ferriera can get a lot of time to play again if they move. It is their fault if they refuse to move and stay.
The duo stayed with Chelsea and won a lot of medals. But when new generations come the old has to move or will be moved forcefully. That is the tradition.
