Lucas Piazon could make first team: Chelsea coach hints

Chelsea Under-21 midfielder Lucas Piazon has been rated as a quality player who is capable of playing with the first team squad. The Blues youth team manager Dermot Drummy has praise the 18-year-old Brazilian international stressing that he could fit perfectly into Di Matteo's team if given the opportunity. This is because Lucas plays like a professional even at just 18 years.

The team manager has suggested that the attacking midfielder should be given a first-team debut in upcoming Capital One Cup fixtures.

The former Sao Paulo youngster officially joined the Blues last January and was awarded as the Club's Youngest Player of the Season, making the bench for a Premier League fixture against Swansea City at the end of the campaign. In the last summer pre-season tour in United State of America, Lucas also played with the first-team, during which he scored against PSG to tie the game and make it a 1-1 draw.

The young Brazilian has been an important player for the Under-21 side. He is always significant in all games including opening the scoring in a 5-0 victory over Wolverhampton among the youth team's last fixture which were played at Stamford Bridge. Speaking on the youth team performances, Drummy said:

"It just gives them experience which they normally wouldn't get. The best hope these players have at the moment is to allow them play in the Capital "Lucas Piazon is playing very well and training with the first team on a regular basis, but any time we can play at Stamford Bridge is massive, and it also gives the fans the chance to come along to the ground and see some of our younger players in action."

With Piazon leading the charge for Chelsea's upcoming generation of youth talent, there is every chance he will be given a chance to play in the League Cup on September 25. The youth development academy is a nice place to train and bring up well talented and motivated players that could fit in the first team squad in future.

Giving the youth players the opportunity to play alongside the first team squad, will boost their confidence tremendously. That was a good suggestion from the youth team manager that Di Matteo oops! i mean Roman Abramovich should consider.
