Chelsea's hopes of landing prime target Radamel Falcao next summer have
taken a huge blow, as the club’s president claims on Spanish TV that the
Colombian has already had a working deal in place with Spanish giants Real Madrid. Even though Chelsea owner Abramovich has already agreed to meet Falcao £48million
buy-out clause at the end of the season. After accepting the striker will not be
leaving Atletico Madrid
in this month's transfer window.
Atletico president Enrique Cerezo said on a Spanish television that: "Falcao has had something signed with Real Madrid for some time." Real president Florentino Perez is as keen on Falcao as Abramovich is, and will increased his determination to sign the Colombian hit man by all means.
Falcao wants to end the season at Atletico who are currently second place with seven points ahead of Real Madrid, before he decides where to go. The club’s executive seems to be already preparing the way to say goodbye to their striker as he said: "Falcao has earned the right to decide his future."
Chelsea sees Falcao as the right man to fill their striking role but it is unfortunate that they will have to lose him. And if it eventually happens, they will have to move for Napoli’s Argentine ace Edinson Cavani as an alternative.
