Micheal Essien vows to help Madrid defend league title

After joining Real Madrid from Chelsea on a long season loan, Michael Essien has express his desire to help the club defend their la liga title and also win the Champions League. The former Chelsea midfielder was happy to reunite with his former boss and show his ambition for Real.

The Ghanaian international was on-hand to praise his fellow team-mates at Santiago Bernabeu saying thus "During my time here I hope to help Real Madrid win titles," Essien told the club's official website.

"I want to work hard and do everything in my power to return the team to the top of the league." "Our Champions League group is tough, but with these players we can go far," he said.

Essien has been troubled with a lot of injuries over the past few seasons but as he managed to fight back to fitness, he eventually lost his chance to play in Di Matteo's squad. He has received so many offers including Turkish club Fenerbache but the veteran midfielder said he would love to stay with the club. Essien finally  agreed to join the Spanish outfit Real Madrid on loan for the rest of the season campaign and he is very comfortable with the move.
